Is it possible to keep an email address when switching providers?

For example...i am with earthlink and my email is bob@earthlink.net and i switch providers to comcast....can i still keep or transfer my earthlink account to comcast. I thought there was a law passed that was similar to the cell phone number law that required providers to alias the email accounts and make them essentially transferable. Thanks in advance for your answers.

I'm not familiar with any law about making emails transferable. However, you can usually keep your email account for a reduced monthly fee. You also might be able to talk them into forwarding your email to a new account. Good luck.
