How to set up automatic direct email?

Does anyone know how to setup receiving emails automatically instead of sending/receiving? I have microsoft office outlook 2003.

There is a setting in Outlook options to make it check mail at intervals. This is the only way it can collect the mail. It has to check the server at intervals to see if there is any new mail.
