How do I trace where an email came from?

I have been receiving alot of emails which say I have won money, I wish to try and trace these emails and find out where they have come from.

Can anyone tell me how I see the router on these emails through Hotmail, I can then pass it to Hotmail for investigation.

I have the set up on Hotmail!

How do I trace where an email came from?
The answer is both yes and maybe, and it may not do you any good.

Hotmail comes with a report spam button, I suggest using that.
Reply:surely you know if you entered any lotteries. because you can't win if you don't enter. all of these e-mails you get are spam/phishing they have a tracker built in once you open it the sender knows it's a valid e-mail so they can send you viagra ads. my suggestion is us the spam button in hotmail.
Reply:Don't bother !

Unfortunately, the Internet provider can not be bothered to trace and ban these pests ( and crooks)

I use SPAMJAB.com for my original e-mail account and get about 200 spam/ deceptive / confidence trick e-mails A DAY!

I think this was from when I did a lot of e-Bay selling

SpamJab blocks them all now

I then set up two new e-mail addresses which I ONLY gave out to trusted sites or people.

This does not cost you any fee or monies

One is a Yahoo e-mail address

and for VERY close friends and family a GoogleMail address

This can only be set up by people who recommend you

That is how I cope with the problem

I WOULD LIKE TO BOUNCE THE EMAILS BACKCROOKS AND PSYCHOS THAT DO THIS But I do not know of any way to do it

The "block sender" route is OK but , if you get as many crooked e-mails as I do you would have thousands in your filters

I use Mozilla Thunder bird as my e-mail handler ( not outlook express) so that I can see all mail from my three different addresses

BUT outlook express does allow you to have different addresses also ..........
Reply:don't bother

add the domain or the sender to your blocked / junk list you wont see them then

trillions of these go round the world every minute
Reply:Name and address of the sender should be on it.

These E mails are usually a scam.
Reply:try opening an account with

www.readnotify.com

Send an email to the money people and if they respond, readnotify will tell you the location.(you must add .readnotify.com to the end of the email u wish to send.

It only works if they reply
