How do I set up Firefox so that when I click on an email address, it brings up Gmail, not Outlook?

I once had internet explorer set up this way, so that clicking on an email address in a web page, a window popped up from my yahoo account and I could begin typing my email to whomever. I hate outlook! Anyway, any help would be appreciated. I am using Windows XP.
